Hexagon is proud to announce the release of MSC Simufact Welding 2025.4 is a finite element-based software for welding simulations. Finite element calculations are suitable for modelling the elastic-plastic and hardening material behaviour and, thus, also for simulating welding structures.
Simufact Welding 2025.4 is a minor release that contains a one improvement to existing functionalities as well as new API functionalities and crucial bugfixes. In addition to that a new Demos and Examples Model has been added to the documentation.
Simufact Welding 2025.4 Release Highlights
Some main highlights of this Simufact Welding 2025.4 release include the following:
Morphing tool - Match sides
-What is it?Enhanced control over scan-to-surface assignment ensures higher accuracy and reliability.
-What is in it for you? Each scan usually corresponds to a specific side of the original sheet (the upper or lower side). This feature ensures that every scan is correctly assigned to the corresponding surface, maintaining solution accuracy.
Mesh refinement around RPS points
-What is it?Automatic local mesh refinement is integrated into the workflow for better accuracy and ease of use.
-What is in it for you?The geometry of clamped sheets is strongly influenced by boundary conditions at RPS locations. Controlling the mesh size in these areas significantly improves solution accuracy. Local mesh refinement at RPS locations is now part of the automated workflow in Simufact Welding - without the need for external meshing tools (such as MSC Apex).
New Example: Assembly RPS Clamping
-What is it?Complete Virtual Fixture workflow example for a single component.
-What is in it for you?Demonstrates the Virtual Fixture workflow.
Further Improvements:
- Individual near-contact heat transfer values
- API: contact_positioning() in an arbitrary direction
- New 2D planar basic shapes
Simufactis a leading FEA based simulation solution for metal forming, welding and heat treatment. Simufact provides your manufacturing team with the ability to simulate the entire manufacturing process chain to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs and time-to-market, while improving product quality. With Simufact, your team can simulate operations starting from blanking, shearing of wires or billets, to multi-stage forming, punching, trimming, and heat treatment followed by joining operations, welding and structural analysis.
Simufact Weldingis used to model and optimize a wide range of thermal joining processes through the welding structure simulation considering weld sequence and clamping. Processes such as arc welding, laser beam welding, electron beam welding, brazing, resistance spot welding, and the generative manufacturing process 'Direct Energy Deposition' (DED or WAAM) can be modeled in Simufact Welding. Simufact Welding can be used to model heat treatment, different variants for cooling and unclamping, and the mechanical load on welded structures.
