Use GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, JaCoCo and Diffblue Cover to write reliable tests for Spring Boot, faster
What you'll learn
Requirements
Description
A Stack Overflow survey found that most developers don't fully trust AI-generated code, and testing is one of the places that distrust runs deepest. AI tools can write a unit test in seconds. The harder question is whether that test is actually checking the right thing, and whether you can trust it enough to ship it.
This course is a practical, hands-on guide to using AI tools for unit testing the right way. It's built for developers who already write tests and want to write them faster and better with AI, not for developers looking for a shortcut around learning to test at all.
Working inside a real Spring Boot codebase, you'll use GitHub Copilot, Cursor, JetBrains AI Assistant, and Claude Code to generate JUnit 5 tests, and watch Diffblue Cover generate a full autonomous test suite from scratch. You'll learn prompting techniques that produce consistent, maintainable tests instead of a different test every time you ask, and you'll learn to recognize the specific ways AI-generated tests fail, including the "ground truth problem": AI can only test what your code does, not what it's supposed to do.
By the end, you'll have a repeatable process for using AI in your testing workflow: which tool to reach for, how to prompt it, what to check before you trust the output, and a human-in-the-loop review checklist you can apply to any AI-generated test, from any tool.
What's covered
Who it's for: this course assumes you already know Java and have written unit tests before. It's built for intermediate developers, not people writing their first test. If you're new to testing, this isn't the place to start, it's about using AI on top of testing skills you already have.
By the end, you won't just have a folder of AI-generated tests. You'll have judgment: the ability to look at any AI-generated test and know whether to trust it, fix it, or throw it out.
