Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Understand how the major systems of a modern vehicle work together and build a solid foundation in automotive engineering.
Modern vehicles are complex engineering systems that combine mechanical components, electrical and electronic systems, software, communication networks and sophisticated control functions. This course provides a structured introduction to the fundamental technologies and engineering principles behind modern passenger vehicles.
We begin by looking at the vehicle as a complete technical system. You will learn how different engineering domains interact and why modern automotive development requires an understanding of both individual components and their relationships at vehicle level.
The course then introduces the fundamental vehicle architecture and the major systems responsible for propulsion, motion and control. We examine powertrain concepts and follow the path from energy conversion through torque transmission to the wheels.
You will also learn the fundamentals of chassis systems, including suspension, steering, braking, tires and the physical principles that determine how forces are transferred between the vehicle and the road.
Another major part of the course focuses on automotive electrical and electronic systems. We explore electronic control units, sensors, actuators, vehicle electrical architecture and the communication networks that allow distributed vehicle functions to work together.
The course also introduces the role of software and control in the modern vehicle. You will see how information from sensors is processed, how control functions influence physical systems and why the boundaries between mechanical, electrical and software engineering have become increasingly interconnected.
Throughout the course, we maintain a complete-vehicle perspective. Rather than studying isolated components, we examine how propulsion, chassis, electronics, communication and control interact to create the behavior experienced at vehicle level.
By the end of the course, you will understand the fundamental architecture of a modern vehicle and be able to follow the relationships betweenmechanical systems, electrical and electronic systems, sensors, actuators, communication, software and vehicle control.
This course is designed for engineering students, automotive professionals, engineers entering the automotive industry, and anyone who wants to develop a structured technical understanding of modern vehicle engineering without requiring extensive previous automotive knowledge.
