Learn Docker, Containers, Images, Dockerfile, Networking, Application Deployment, and WordPress Multi-Container Projects
What you'll learn
Requirements
Description
Docker and container technology have become important approaches for running applications and creating consistent software environments. This course provides a practical introduction to Docker, starting with the fundamentals of containerization and gradually moving toward application deployment, Dockerfile automation, networking, and a multi-container WordPress project.
The course begins by explaining container technology, Docker, Docker hosts, and the Docker engine. You will understand why containers can launch environments quickly and how Docker simplifies the use of container technology. The course then demonstrates how to prepare a Linux system as a Docker host, including launching a Linux server in AWS, installing Docker, starting the Docker service, and verifying that the Docker engine is running.
You will learn essential Docker concepts such as images, containers, Docker commands, Docker Hub, registries, image tags, and different operating-system images. Practical demonstrations show how images can be downloaded and used to launch containers, including Ubuntu and Red Hat environments. You will also understand how Docker provides networking, IP addresses, and isolated environments for containers.
The course then moves into application deployment. You will learn how to prepare an application environment inside a container using a base operating system, Python, Flask, supporting libraries, and application code. A Python Flask application is created, executed, tested, and accessed through a container network address. The training also explains loopback addresses, private networking, port mapping, and Port Address Translation for making containerized applications accessible from outside the Docker host.
Another important part of the course is Dockerfile automation and custom Docker images. You will learn how manually configured environments can be converted into reusable images containing the required operating system, software, libraries, and application code. This approach helps create standardized and repeatable environments that can also be shared across teams.
Finally, the course demonstrates a multi-container WordPress project using separate WordPress/PHP and MySQL containers. You will understand how containers communicate, how database containers can remain private, and how the WordPress application can be exposed for external access. By the end of the course, you will have practical knowledge of Docker commands, images, containers, Dockerfiles, application deployment, networking, and multi-container applications.
