Fracture Sounds Trails is a collection of evocative solo string textures, synth performances, soundscapes, and experimental instruments created in collaboration with violinist and composer Alexander Parsons. The library combines acoustic performances with electronic sound design to provide a broad palette for cinematic composition and textural music.
The collection features solo violin and cello textures, a rare Faulkner Dulcichord tabletop piano, 28 synth recordings, Layer Blends, and a Granular Synthesis engine. The recorded performances can be transformed through granular processing, effects, articulation controls, and atmospheric layers.
Trails is designed for sound exploration with a streamlined workflow, allowing acoustic sources to be reshaped into evolving textures, tension-building layers, and hybrid acoustic-electronic performances.
Software Overview
The main collection focuses on solo violin and cello textures recorded by Alexander Parsons and Joe Zeitlin. Eight core articulations provide different long and short performance characteristics, while the Granular Engine expands the source material into more experimental textures.
The library also includes 28 synth sounds that can be combined through the Layer Blends engine. Up to three synth samples can be blended and controlled with the mod wheel, with additional ADSR, filter, and effects controls for further sound shaping.
The Faulkner Dulcichord adds a distinctive acoustic instrument with a delicate tone. Its Broken Tuning function, Colour and Timbre Shift controls, and extended range switch provide additional ways to alter the instrument's character.

- Reflections - Long sustains with folk-inspired turns
- Deviations - A whistling harmonic texture with a focus on bow noise
The Granular Engine provides controls for reversing, mutating, and reshaping the original sounds. Its parameters can be adjusted manually or shuffled to generate different combinations and directions for the source material.
The library includes 57 curated granular presets as starting points for users exploring granular synthesis. These presets are also available in a Lightweight folder for projects requiring greater CPU efficiency.
Faulkner Dulcichord
The Faulkner Dulcichord is a small single-stringed tabletop piano with a delicate tonal character. Its Broken Tuning function can transform the cleaned-up samples into a more antique character.
Colour and Timbre Shift controls allow the instrument's tone to move toward darker or brighter tonal spaces, while the extended range switch expands the playable range beyond the instrument's natural limitations.
