In Session Audio Guitar Swell is a virtual guitar instrument library designed to create expressive ambient guitar performances, atmospheric melodies, and cinematic soundscapes. It combines sampled guitar sounds with intuitive performance controls, allowing musicians and composers to play melodies, chords, and musical phrases while shaping them into spacious, evolving textures.
The instrument is built around the guitar swell technique, in which the volume is gradually increased after a note is played. Combined with delay, reverb, and other effects, this approach transforms traditional guitar sounds into smooth, sustained textures that work well in ambient music and soundtrack production.
Software Overview
Guitar Swell offers a collection of ten guitars and a dedicated interface for creating ambient guitar arrangements. Users can freely play individual notes, melodies, parts, and chords, or use custom and automatically generated chord patterns triggered from single keys. This makes it possible to build accessible chord progressions without manually programming every note.
A distinctive feature is its pitch-bending system, which allows individual strings or multiple strings to bend independently or simultaneously. This creates smooth transitions between chord changes, with overlapping pitch movements that produce evolving and expressive textures.
The library also includes patches that combine guitars with other acoustic instruments, analog synthesizers, and additional guitar layers. Its virtual volume pedal can be used to shape the attack and sustain of the sound before processing it through an amplifier, reverb, delay, and other effects.
Key Features
- Ten guitar sounds: Provides a collection of guitars for creating a variety of ambient textures and performances.
- Expressive guitar playing: Supports freely played melodies, musical parts, and chords.
- Custom chord strumming: Allows users to trigger custom chord patterns from individual keys.
- Automatic chord generation: Creates playable chord progressions using single-key triggers.
- Pitch-bending controls: Bends strings independently or simultaneously to create smooth, evolving chord transitions.
- Layered instrument patches: Combines guitar sounds with natural instruments, analog synthesizers, and additional guitars.
- Virtual volume pedal: Gradually increases the guitar signal after notes are played to create smooth swell effects.
- Built-in effects: Includes amplifier processing, reverb, delay, and additional sound-shaping effects.
- Ambient sound design: Combines volume swells and spatial effects to create sustained, pad-like guitar textures.
Guitar Swell provides a practical approach to creating atmospheric guitar performances without requiring extensive manual editing. Its single-key chord triggering and automatic strumming options simplify the process of building harmonic arrangements, while the pitch-bending controls add movement to transitions between chords.
The combination of ten guitar sounds, layered patches, volume-pedal control, and built-in effects makes it suitable for ambient music, cinematic compositions, and productions that need expressive guitar textures.
