Description
Did you know that the European Union is advancing a law that would ban almost all PFAS uses 18 months after it is enacted? Today approximately 30-50% of EU industrial sectors are dependent on PFAS. This law would have a massive and unprecedented effect on industry. In this course we will cover PFAS, their emerging global regulations and substitution options for suppliers. Today, PFAS is the hottest new chemical & material regulation trend in the world. It will have an unprecedented impact on global supply chains as it is used in many different product types. This course is geared toward suppliers or any company selling physical products or materials. Currently the EU and US States are spearheading regulations, but they are likely to be adopted by other countries over time (similar to the REACH Regulation). This course is geared towards engineering (mechanical, chemical and materials), purchasing, and regulatory specialists. In this course specifically, we will define PFAS and cover the different jurisdictions regulatory definitions, which vary significantly. Next, we will break down the regulatory risk of PFAS substances by their chemical structure. After this, we will investigate the toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of PFAS and why governments are intent on regulating them. Next, we will review PFAS test methods and other techniques suppliers can use to determine if PFAS are present in their products. Then, we review global PFAS regulations, focusing on the trend setting jurisdictions (EU ECHA, US States). Then, we review methods suppliers can employ to ensure they comply with PFAS regulations. After this, we review PFAS substitution options by product type and functional application. Then we wrap up this course by explaining how suppliers can be prepared for future chemical & material regulations similar to those for PFAS. At the end of this course, companies should understand the emerging PFAS regulations worldwide, how to get in front of them, and how to build their own regulation monitoring program to help prevent future business disruptions due to new regulations.
