Description
This workbook is the complete teaching plan for a vocabulary course aimed at students preparing for competitive English examinations. It contains every word taught, the meaning and example sentence used on screen, and the memory hook that makes the word stick - organised so that a student can work through it from front to back, and an instructor can record from it lecture by lecture. The curriculum consolidates two earlier word banks into a single graded course. Words that were merely padding in the source material - everyday items such as ordinary, outdoor, marine and zoology, which no candidate at this level needs taught - have been dropped, and the space has been reinvested in higher-yield vocabulary that examiners actually test. The result is 580 words across 19 sections. What Makes This Course Different Most vocabulary courses present words in the order a dictionary happens to list them, or in arbitrary blocks of ten. Both are the worst possible order for memory. Words that look alike but mean different things end up next to each other, and words that mean nearly the same thing end up two hundred entries apart, so the student never learns the distinction the examiner is actually testing. This course groups words by meaning. Every lecture is a cluster of ten words that belong to one idea - flattery, or stubbornness, or the signs that something is about to happen. Learning them together does three things at once: it fixes each word by contrast with its neighbours, it builds the fine distinctions that hard questions turn on, and it gives you a set of ready alternatives when you need a precise word in an essay or an interview.
