Description
Most of us are going through the motions - here in body, gone in mind. We do the pose, finish the task, say the words, and somehow never quite arrive. This is a practice for arriving. For actually being here, in the one place you can't fake your way through: your own body.
Mastering Asana is not fitness yoga, and it isn't about touching your toes. It's a somatic practice - a way of using posture, breath, and stillness as an instrument for reading yourself. Each shape is a question your body answers: Can you make space in your spine? Can you move backward and feel safe? Can you lie on the floor and completely trust it to hold you? Can you find your own center?
A note on what "somatic" means here: your body isn't used for expression or fitness - it's used as aninterface. Through structured sequence, it generates real-time feedback, revealing where you're coherent and where you're fragmented. That's the whole method - the body as a feedback system, not a performance.
Taught from the ground up - philosophy, mechanics, and lineage - this Level One sequence moves through four clinics: Traction in Action (making space in the spine), the Hernia Series / Uttanpadasana (where you begin working with energy through the bandhas), Corpse Posture / Savasana (surrender and trust), and the Backbend / Ardha Chakrasana (moving backward and feeling safe). Woven through all of it is ahimsa - non-harm - so you learn to meet your body where it actually is.
What you walk away with isn't a set of poses. It's the beginning of a felt skill: the ability to notice when you're present and when you've left - and to find your way back. Relief. Clarity. Stability. The quiet experience of being home in yourself.
This is for you whether you're brand new or years into your practice - anyone drawn to somatic work, nervous-system health, or embodiment, who wants presence over performance.
Mastering Asana is Level One of the IQF Somatic Practice - part of a larger body of work called the 84-Code System, a map of the patterns that move through a life. This course stands complete on its own, and it's also a first doorway into that larger work.
