MedCalc is a statistical software package for Windows developed for biomedical researchers and professionals who need to analyze, visualize, and interpret clinical and research data. It combines data management, statistical analysis, graphing, and specialized methods for biomedical studies in a single application.
The software provides dedicated tools for Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, including AUC calculations, confidence intervals, predictive values, threshold analysis, and comparisons of up to six ROC curves. It also supports method comparison techniques such as Bland & Altman, Passing and Bablok, and Deming regression.
MedCalc includes an integrated spreadsheet for managing large datasets, support for multiple data formats, subgroup selection, missing-data handling, and graphing tools. Results and graphs can be saved in several formats for further analysis, reporting, or presentation.

Software OverviewMedCalc is designed around the statistical requirements of biomedical research, providing tools for preparing datasets, performing statistical analyses, and presenting results graphically. Its integrated spreadsheet supports up to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns, while missing values and outliers can be handled during data preparation.
The application can import data from Excel, Excel 2007, SPSS, DBase, Lotus, SYLK, DIF, and plain text files. Users can also select specific subgroups for statistical analysis and use the built-in WYSIWYG editor when preparing related documentation.
ROC analysis is a major component of MedCalc. The ROC module calculates the area under the curve with standard error, 95% confidence intervals, and P-values, with support for the methodologies of DeLong et al. and Hanley & McNeil. It can also calculate sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios, and predictive values across possible threshold values.
For method comparison studies, MedCalc includes Bland & Altman analysis as well as Passing and Bablok and Deming regression. Graphing tools provide data-point identification, annotations, text boxes, lines, arrows, and connectors, with options to save graphs for later use.
