Orange Tree Samples Evolution Songwriter is a virtual acoustic guitar instrument designed to recreate the distinctive sound of the legendary Gibson J-45 steel-string guitar. Known for its warm, expressive tone, the J-45 has featured on countless singer-songwriter recordings over several decades, making it a popular choice for acoustic music production.
Developed for songwriters, composers, and music producers, this Kontakt library offers a versatile range of acoustic guitar sounds inspired by artists such as The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Iron & Wine, and The Dirty Projectors. Its sound collection covers classic acoustic tones associated with the 1960s and 1970s as well as more contemporary styles, with ready-to-use presets for different musical workflows.
The library was created in collaboration with guitarist William Derganc, who contributed to the recording process and helped develop its factory presets, strumming patterns, and custom chord options.
Software Overview
Evolution Songwriter combines detailed acoustic guitar sampling with performance controls designed to make playing and arranging guitar parts more flexible. Its instrument engine provides adjustable pick positioning, articulation mapping, and multitracking options to help shape the character of each performance.
An additional signal recorded through a multitrack cassette tape recorder is included in the library. This signal introduces tape saturation, pitch fluctuations, and other characteristic recording artifacts, adding a more textured sound to the guitar. The background noise level can be adjusted or disabled entirely.
