Move from manual QA to practical Playwright automation with TypeScript, debugging, real workflows, and a capstone.

What you'll learn
Translate manual QA thinking into maintainable Playwright test automation.
Write and run practical Playwright tests using the TypeScript essentials testers need.
Create resilient locators, assertions, waits, interactions, and debugging workflows.
Organize a real test suite and complete a practical QA Shop capstone project.
Requirements
No automation or TypeScript experience is required. Manual testing experience is helpful.
Description
If you are a manual tester who wants to move into browser automation without being overwhelmed by programming, this course gives you a practical path into Playwright. It starts with the testing judgment you already use and builds the coding skills only when they become useful.
You will learn what automation changes, how to choose valuable tests, and how Playwright fits into a modern QA workflow. From there, you will cover the TypeScript essentials needed for test automation, set up Node.js, Visual Studio Code, and Playwright, and run your first real browser test.
The course then moves into the skills that make automated tests reliable: resilient locators, useful assertions, Playwright auto-waiting, forms, uploads, downloads, dialogs, tabs, and frames. You will see how to diagnose failures with UI Mode, Trace Viewer, and local debugging, and how to reduce flaky tests instead of hiding them with retries.
You will also organize tests using groups, hooks, page objects, and test data. A practical return-on-investment framework helps you decide what should and should not be automated. In the capstone, you plan and build a realistic QA Shop smoke suite, run it successfully, and leave with a reusable project you can continue practicing.
This is not a theory-only introduction. It is designed around the real decisions, browser behavior, evidence, and maintenance concerns that QA professionals encounter on delivery teams. No previous automation or TypeScript experience is required.
Who this course is for
Manual QA testers and QA professionals who want a practical path into Playwright browser automation.
