POLYREX is a virtual polyphonic synthesizer inspired by classic Japanese analog synthesizers from the early 1980s. Developed by Safari Audio, it combines vintage-style oscillator tones, expressive modulation, resonant filtering, and built-in effects to create sounds that range from warm, nostalgic keys to evolving atmospheric textures.
Designed for music producers, composers, sound designers, and electronic musicians, POLYREX provides hands-on controls for shaping sounds without relying on complicated menu navigation. Its sound palette covers dreamy pads, punchy basses, glassy plucks, warped chords, unstable tape-inspired keys, and cinematic synth textures.
The instrument combines the character of vintage poly synths with a more playful sonic approach. Oscillator shaping, pulse-width modulation, pitch movement, and envelope controls allow users to develop distinctive tones for electronic music production, melodic arrangements, and atmospheric compositions
Software OverviewSafari Audio POLYREX is a synthesizer focused on vintage-inspired polyphonic sounds and accessible sound design. Its oscillator section provides square-wave tones, sub-oscillator reinforcement, and a noise generator for adding texture, grit, and percussive elements.
The filter and envelope section helps shape the tonal character and response of each sound. A resonant filter, high-pass filter, and ADSR envelope provide control over brightness, low-frequency content, and the attack, decay, sustain, and release stages.
POLYREX also includes performance and modulation controls for introducing movement into sustained notes and melodic phrases. Its arpeggiator, glide function, and low-frequency oscillator make it possible to create rhythmic sequences, pitch transitions, and evolving synth textures. Built-in chorus, delay, and spring effects add width, repetition, and spatial character without requiring separate effect plugins for these particular treatments.
Key Features
- Vintage-inspired polyphonic synthesizer sounds influenced by classic Japanese instruments from the early 1980s.
- Square oscillator for producing harmonically rich, vintage-style synth tones.
- Sub oscillator for reinforcing bass frequencies and adding depth.
- Noise generator for introducing air, texture, grit, and percussive character.
- Pulse-width modulation (PWM) for creating movement and variation in oscillator tones.
- LFO pitch modulation for adding drift and expressive pitch movement.
- Resonant filter for shaping tonal brightness and harmonic character.
- High-pass filter for reducing low-frequency content and creating thinner textures.
- ADSR envelope controls for shaping the attack, decay, sustain, and release of sounds.
- Envelope and gate modes for adjusting how the synthesizer responds during performance.
- Built-in arpeggiator with octave and rate controls for generating rhythmic note patterns.
- LFO rate and delay controls for managing modulation speed and its onset.
- Glide function for smooth transitions between pitches.
- Dedicated pitch and LFO sliders for direct performance adjustments.
- Chorus effect for adding width and vintage-style shimmer.
- Delay effect for creating repeating echoes and rhythmic depth.
- Spring effect for adding a vintage-inspired sense of space.
The integrated arpeggiator and effects section provide additional options for developing musical ideas directly within the instrument. Whether used for electronic productions, soundtrack compositions, or retro-inspired arrangements, POLYREX offers a focused set of tools for creating expressive synthesizer sounds.
