Siemenshas released Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal V21 Update 2 is designed to be an application that allows a programmer to design PLC programs, HMI displays, and motion/motor control systems, all from a single software.
The TIA Portal V21 brings a number of new features to improve the engineering of controllers, HMIs and drives. The new features include the new Simatic SD format for file-based export, the NextGen WinCC Unified Screen Editor and the innovative SINAMICS S220 drive system, also the new download options from Startdrive and the T-CPU with multicore support. The update is notable because it further aligns industrial automation with software development best practices, particularly Git-based version control and digital twin workflows - key trends shaping next-generation factory automation.

This update contains the following improvements and changes:
Working with the TIA Portal
Stability when working with the TIA Portal has been improved, partly based on the feedback from returned crash reports.
Advanced online functions of named value data types have been enabled
Named value data types can now be opened via the list of accessible devices (Lifelist) and by a card reader (read-only). Named value data types that are only available online can also be opened directly from the online view of the CPU.
Dependency between project languages and settings for multilingualism of the CPU removed
If you change the editing language and reference language in your project, this will no longer affect the configuration of multilingualism in the properties of the CPU.
TIA Portalis a software and tools package developed by Siemens, which aims to integrate multiple development tools for automation devices from the unification and remodelling of preexisting software such as Simatic Step 7, Simatic WinCC, and Sinamics Starter. The environments are responsible for programming, developing, and configuring Siemens PLCs, HMIs, and frequency inverters. The user's programming logic in TIA Portal follows a structure of blocks, a facilitating agent for the development, maintenance, and diagnostics of machines and industrial processes when developed in a structured and organized way.
