Leadership storytelling: build narrative structure, pick your protagonist, use metrics, and deliver with confidence.
What you'll learn
Requirements
Description
Most leaders are not short on strategy. They have the plan, the roadmap, the metrics, the quarterly targets. What they are often short on is a story their team can actually hold onto and repeat back to them, in their own words, without a slide deck in front of them.
That gap, between having a strategy and having a narrative, is where good plans quietly fall apart. Information tells people what happened. Only narrative tells them why it matters and gives them something to carry out of the room. This course teaches you how to close that gap, using a practical, repeatable method rather than vague inspiration about being a better storyteller.
You will start by learning why narrative drives alignment, trust, and speed inside a team, and why relying on information alone leaves your best decisions vulnerable to being forgotten within days. From there, you will learn the three-part structure behind every narrative that actually works: context, conflict, and resolution, and how to choose the right protagonist, your organization, your team, or your customer, depending on who you are speaking to.
The middle of this course is entirely hands-on. You will take one of your own real strategic priorities and reverse-engineer it into this structure, attach one honest metric that survives being paired with its own cost, and compress the whole thing into a single sentence you can say out loud in a hallway, a Slack message, or a board meeting. You will also learn how to expand that same sentence for different rooms, from a quick team update to a full board presentation, without changing its underlying shape or losing what makes it true.
Delivery gets equal attention. You will learn how to match your pace, order, and tone to the audience in front of you, whether that is a skeptical executive peer or a frontline team hearing the reasoning for the first time. And because a narrative is not a one-time announcement, you will finish the course knowing how to reinforce it while it is alive, update it honestly when strategy shifts, and retire it gracefully once it goes flat.
By the end, you will not walk away with theory. You will walk away with a completed, one-page Strategic Narrative Brief, built from your own real work, tested against two practical checks, and ready to use with a specific stakeholder within the week.
This course is built for leaders, managers, and aspiring leaders at any level who need people to understand and act on their decisions, not just comply with them. No writing background or public speaking experience is required, just a real strategic priority to work with and the willingness to say your narrative out loud.
